Three English teachers from China are spending a month at Wright State to see how English is taught as a second language by the university.<\/p>\n
The teachers, who are from Dalian Jiaotong University in Dalian, China, arrived at Wright State on Jan. 21. Dalian Jiaotong is one of Wright State’s partner universities.<\/p>\n
“They want to see how we teach English as a second language and how we train teachers to be instructors of language learners,” said Chris Hall, Ph.D., associate professor of English.<\/p>\n
The Chinese teachers are from Dalian Jiaotong’s Department of Foreign Languages. They are Li Cong and Baomin Han, both lecturers; and Guirong Tian, an associate professor.<\/p>\n
Hall said the Chinese teachers will sit in on Wright State classes, take part in campus activities, and take trips to Columbus, Cincinnati and possibly Chicago and New York.<\/p>\n
“What we want to do is start a dialogue with English teachers at one of our major partner universities,” Hall said.<\/p>\n
He hopes it will result in opportunities for Wright State faculty to conduct workshops for teachers at Dalian Jiaotong University.<\/p>\n
A reception for the Chinese teachers to introduce them to faculty, students and others will be held Feb. 2, from 3 to 4 p.m., in the atrium of Millett Hall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
