Her work was recently recognized by Greene County, which named Deedrick winner of the 2013 Outstanding Community Service Award.<\/p>\n<p>Teri LaJeunesse, Greene County\u2019s Victim Witness Division director, said the award has been given by the county prosecutor\u2019s office during National Crime Victims\u2019 Rights Week for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_21577\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2013\/05\/15\/student-support-services-director-earns-greene-county-community-service-award\/katie-deedrick-director-student-support-services-7-25-11\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-21577\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21577\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21577\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2013\/05\/Katie-Deedrick-01-7-11-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-21577\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Katie Deedrick, Wright State University Office of Student Support Services director<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cKatie has done an excellent job for many years working with individuals who have been, or might be, victimized,\u201d LaJeunesse said. \u201cShe has balanced the needs of the university with making sure the needs of the individuals have been met.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deedrick promotes personal safety among the student body and helps introduce community agencies to students who might utilize their services. When an assault or other incident takes place, she is also the person who receives the phone call in the middle of the night and drives to the hospital to offer the university\u2019s help to the victim and his or her family.<\/p>\n<p>Kathy Morris, associate vice president in the Division of Student Affairs, said, \u201cNobody else could do Katie\u2019s job the way she does it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe takes every incident very personally,\u201d Morris said. \u201cShe is \u2018all in\u2019 in terms of helping that student.
