{"id":21915,"date":"2013-06-03T09:08:58","date_gmt":"2013-06-03T13:08:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=21915"},"modified":"2013-06-03T09:08:58","modified_gmt":"2013-06-03T13:08:58","slug":"william-hershey-wright-kind-of-attention-to-science-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2013\/06\/03\/william-hershey-wright-kind-of-attention-to-science-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"William Hershey: Wright kind of attention to science, technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Excerpt<\/p>\n<p>When she came to Wright State on May 17-18 the university was the center of American youthful innovation, with Ohio, as in pre-Rust Belt days, flexing plenty of intellectual muscle.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty middle school teams, including Lucy\u2019s from the Syracuse area in New York, and 60 high school teams qualified for the 29th annual Science Olympiad National Tournament after state competition.<\/p>\n<p>All 50 states were represented.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Japan sent a team.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen students on each team competed in 23 events that required both hands-on skills and knowledge in subjects such as genetics, earth science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, physics and anatomy.
