{"id":23499,"date":"2013-09-03T10:57:35","date_gmt":"2013-09-03T14:57:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=23499"},"modified":"2013-09-03T10:57:35","modified_gmt":"2013-09-03T14:57:35","slug":"new-alzheimers-therapy-developed-by-wright-state-prof-spreading-across-u-s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2013\/09\/03\/new-alzheimers-therapy-developed-by-wright-state-prof-spreading-across-u-s\/","title":{"rendered":"New Alzheimer\u2019s therapy developed by Wright State prof spreading across U.S."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Three years ago, Wright State University professor Govind Bharwani was given a challenge: Find a way to help people living with Alzheimer\u2019s disease so they are less prone to becoming confused, agitated, withdrawn and falling.\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Today, the breakthrough therapy he created has won five national awards, spread to 14 institutions in three states and there is a six-month waiting list for those wishing to implement it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The therapy works by providing each person with their own \u201cmemory box\u201d filled with family photos, books and movies they love and other special items. Videos and music from \u201csoothing libraries\u201d are also selected specifically for the patient and games and puzzles are available to stimulate their brains.
