{"id":26010,"date":"2013-12-03T13:16:14","date_gmt":"2013-12-03T17:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=26010"},"modified":"2013-12-03T13:16:14","modified_gmt":"2013-12-03T17:16:14","slug":"colleges-reach-out-to-foster-youth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2013\/12\/03\/colleges-reach-out-to-foster-youth\/","title":{"rendered":"Colleges reach out to foster youth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Excerpt<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kurt Holden enrolled at Wright State University just to have a place to live after he aged out of the foster care system.<\/p>\n<p>The statistics were against him \u2014 more than one in five emancipated foster care youth will become homeless after 18, half will be unemployed at age 24 and fewer than 3 percent will earn a college degree by 25, according to the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Holden has an associate degree from Sinclair Community College, a bachelor\u2019s degree from Wright State and he is pursuing a master\u2019s degree.
