Boylan is Wright State&#8217;s Women&#8217;s History Month Scholar-in-Residence.<\/p>\n<p>Boylan will read from new and collected works, including her forthcoming novel, <em>I&#8217;ll Give You Something to Cry About<\/em>. She&#8217;ll also read from <em>She&#8217;s Not There: A Life in Two Genders<\/em> and its sequel, <em>I&#8217;m Looking Through You: Growing Up Haunted<\/em>. Following the reading, Boylan will answer questions and sign books. The event is sponsored by the Women&#8217;s Center and Women&#8217;s Studies Program.<\/p>\n<p>Boylan is the author of 13 books, a professor of English at Colby College in Maine, an ongoing contributor to the op-ed page of <em>The New York Times<\/em>, and a member of the judging committee of the Fulbright Scholars administered by the U.S. Department of State.<\/p>\n<p>Her 2003 memoir, <em>She&#8217;s Not There: A Life in Two Genders<\/em>, was the first bestselling work by a transgender American. The memoir explores Jennifer&#8217;s transition from James to Jenny through two major relationships in her life\u2014her marriage and her friendship with novelist Richard Russo.<\/p>\n<p>Boylan has appeared four times on <em>The Oprah Winfrey Show<\/em> and twice on <em>Larry<br \/>\nKing Live<\/em>. She has been the subject of documentaries on the History Channel, CBS News&#8217; <em>48 Hours<\/em>, NPR&#8217;s <em>Marketplace<\/em>, and <em>Talk of the Nation<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer is completing Wright State University&#8217;s second annual Women&#8217;s History Month residency. In addition to this event, she is visiting several classes and meeting with student groups.
