Experts said gas prices are typically low this time of year.\u00a0 But because of\u00a0 political unrest in the Middle East and North Africa, where most of the world’s oil supply is produced, the price has skyrocketed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is an expectation that there will be less oil so companies push the price up because tomorrow’s barrel of oil will cost them more,\u201d said Dr. Riad Ajami of Wright State University\u2019s College of Business.<\/p>\n
Gas is estimated to top $4 a gallon by Memorial Day.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve still got to drive, Robert Oldfather of Dayton said.\u00a0 \u201cI’ll just suffer like everybody else is going to.\u00a0 I hope that’s as high as it gets.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the short term we have no choice,\u201d added Dr. Ajami.\u00a0 \u201cIn the medium to long term, we can become more energy efficient and we can develop different transportation systems.\u00a0 That’s something we can do in the U.S., but it’s something we haven’t done so far.\u201d<\/p>\n
