{"id":29892,"date":"2014-04-25T09:29:32","date_gmt":"2014-04-25T13:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=29892"},"modified":"2014-04-25T09:30:19","modified_gmt":"2014-04-25T13:30:19","slug":"area-high-school-students-rave-about-tour-of-college-of-education-and-human-services-athletic-training-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2014\/04\/25\/area-high-school-students-rave-about-tour-of-college-of-education-and-human-services-athletic-training-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Area high school students rave about tour of College of Education and Human Services\u2019 Athletic Training program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_29907\" style=\"width: 470px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2014\/04\/25\/area-high-school-students-rave-about-tour-of-college-of-education-and-human-services-athletic-training-program\/at-tour3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29907\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29907\" class=\"size-large wp-image-29907 \" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2014\/04\/AT-tour3-508x340.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"307\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-29907\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">About 33 students from the Cincinnati Diamond Oaks Career Tech Center were one of two recent groups who toured the Wright State University Athletic Training Program facilities.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThat machine was really hard to do and that guy [Brad] was funny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was scared at first about therapeutic modalities but they explained things so I could understand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The polar plunge was sooo cold but I feel great!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These are just a few comments from high school students who took time during their finals push to visit Wright State in what\u2019s quickly becoming the most popular field trip of their school year.<\/p>\n<p>About 33 students from the Cincinnati Diamond Oaks Career Tech Center were one of two recent groups who toured the Wright State University Athletic Training (AT) Program facilities leaving with a new enthusiasm for the field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOrganizing visits like this takes a lot of time and planning, but it gets students to think about their Career Tech AT program and how what they are learning in the classroom now links to post secondary education opportunities,\u201d said Stephanie Davis, Ph.D., associate professor and program director for Career, Technical &amp; Adult Education.<\/p>\n<p>Among many other rehabilitation methods and gadgets they learned about, students got their hands on a Cybex machine\u2014which helps athletes isolate muscles and minimize joint stress during injury recovery\u2014and they learned the benefits of a Swimex pool, which provides an opportunity for individualized aqua therapy.
