LeRoy, M.D.,<span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u00a0is the associate dean for student affairs and admissions for Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and a longtime family physician for East Dayton Health Center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. Who\/what influenced your desire to give back to the community?<\/p>\n<p>My desire to give back was influenced by the many individuals in the Dayton community that gave their time, talents and encouragement to ensure that I grew up to be a successful adult. The biggest influence was my mother, who raised me by herself while working as a domestic. We were the second African-American family to move into Southern Dayton View neighborhood, which were predominately families of German and Appalachian descent and a strong Jewish presence in the 1950s and 1960s. Our neighbors accepted and reached out to one another. My mother also introduced me to our church community and instilled in me a strong work ethic and a caring and ethical nature.
