{"id":33855,"date":"2014-10-16T10:28:21","date_gmt":"2014-10-16T14:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=33855"},"modified":"2024-07-29T12:13:21","modified_gmt":"2024-07-29T16:13:21","slug":"tedxdayton2014-to-have-wright-state-flavor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2014\/10\/16\/tedxdayton2014-to-have-wright-state-flavor\/","title":{"rendered":"TEDxDayton2014 to have Wright State flavor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2014\/10\/TedXDayton-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-33856\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2014\/10\/TedXDayton-logo-260x260.jpg\" alt=\"TEDxDayton2014 to have Wright State flavor\" width=\"260\" height=\"260\" \/><\/a>Five people with links to Wright State University will be among the speakers and performers at TEDxDayton2014.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tedxdayton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TEDxDayton<\/a> is an independently organized event licensed by TED, a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas from the world\u2019s most inspired people.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 30 speakers, performers and performing groups will take the stage at the Victoria Theatre in downtown Dayton between 9 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17.<\/p>\n<p>Those with Wright State connections include Dan Krane, professor in the Department of Biological Sciences; Tony Ortiz, associate vice president for Latino affairs; Catalleya Storm, freedom activist and junior studying political science and business management; Jackie Janning-Lask, who earned her bachelor&#8217;s and master&#8217;s degrees in systems engineering from Wright State; and Jesse Thomas, who earned a bachelor in fine arts and is helping direct a painting performance by students from Stivers School for the Arts.<\/p>\n<p>Wright State is bringing TEDxDayton2014 to the Dayton campus via a livestream of the event.
