Wright State Theatre\u2019s production of “Pride and Prejudice” opens\u00a0Jan. 29 and runs through Feb. 8\u00a0in the Festival Playhouse in the Creative Arts Center.<\/p><\/div>\n

Wright State University Theatre<\/a> continues its 40th season with Jane Austen\u2019s “Pride and Prejudice<\/a>,” adapted for the stage by Jon Jory.<\/p>\n

The play will be presented in the Festival Playhouse in the Creative Arts Center. Performances are Jan. 29, Feb. 4 and 5 at 7 p.m.; Jan. 30, 31, Feb. 6 and 7 at 8 p.m.; and Feb. 1, 7 and 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 students and seniors.<\/p>\n

All of the wit and romance of Austen’s classic 1813 novel come to life in this fast-paced and engaging adaptation. Jory’s adaptation of \u201cPride and Prejudice\u201d premiered in 2005 in Tucson as a co-production between the Arizona Theatre Company, San Jose Repertory Theatre and Atlanta\u2019s Alliance Theatre.<\/p>\n

More than 90 percent of the language in the play comes directly from Austen\u2019s novel, and the characters narrate events to the audience.<\/p>\n

As the producing director at Actors Theatre of Louisville for 32 years, Jory directed over 125 plays and produced over 1,000. He currently teaches acting and directing at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design.<\/p>\n

“Pride and Prejudice” is directed by Marya Spring Cordes (“The Cherry Orchard,” “Grand Hotel”). The set is designed by Julie Allen (“The Cherry Orchard”), lighting by Kody Lupori (“The Wild Party”), costumes by Dave Castellano (“The Magic Fire”), properties by John Lavarnway and sound by James Dunlap (“Les Miserables,” “Oklahoma!”).<\/p>\n

The production features Jim Miller (Mr. Bennet), Mimi Klipstine (Mrs. Bennet), Chelsea Haupsteuck (Jane Bennet), Diana Frankhauser (Elizabeth Bennet), Rebecca Rudy (Mary Bennet, Charlotte Lucas), Alyssa Bermbeck (Lydia Bennet, Georgiana), Jordan Adams (Wickham, Ball Guest), Aly Hilgefort (Kitty Bennet), Ellie Margolis (Lady Catherine de Brough), Tommy DiMassimo (Darcy), Stephen Kell (Mr. Bingley, Fitzwilliams, Servant), Taylor Benjamin (Miss Bingley, Mrs. Gardiner), William Mendelson (Mr. Collins, Gardiner, Sir Lucas,), Owen Kresse (Ball Guest, Officer, Servant) and Amie Lea Heller (Ball Guest).<\/p>\n
