{"id":37815,"date":"2015-08-24T08:42:21","date_gmt":"2015-08-24T12:42:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=37815"},"modified":"2015-08-27T09:20:34","modified_gmt":"2015-08-27T13:20:34","slug":"wright-state-touts-209m-in-research-over-seven-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2015\/08\/24\/wright-state-touts-209m-in-research-over-seven-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Wright State touts $209M in research over seven years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"content__segment\">Wright State University&#8217;s strategy to bring in more research dollars has resulted in $209 million in research contracts over the past seven years since it began a strategy to win more contracts from the government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content__segment\">It has pushed to attract more human performance research funding, including its latest, and biggest, win with a $42.5 million contract from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content__segment\">This has come with $120 million in private investment and 575 new jobs, the school said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content__segment\">In addition, Wright State and other schools are plotting a new Ohio Federal Research Network, recently taking two years of funding by the state. That effort, intended to be a much more concentrated strategy to bring federal research dollars to Ohio, is hoped to lead to 2,500 new jobs and $350M in new federal research contracts over five years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content__segment\">The push for federal contracts came after the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process, which resulted in the new 711th Human Performance Wing to be set up at Wright-Patt in Dayton.
