Brown\u2019s concert is co-presented with The Victoria Theatre Association. Tickets can be purchased at 937-228-3630 or at <a href=\"http:\/\/ticketcenterstage.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ticketcenterstage.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 26, Brown will visit Wright State to give a lecture and discuss his work with students in the Festival Playhouse.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Pascal and Brown, the Musical Theatre Initiative will welcome pop\/rock master teachers Dave Clemmons (&#8220;Les Miserables&#8221;), Wendy LeBorgne (singing voice specialist and faculty member at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music), Ethan Popp (&#8220;School of Rock&#8221; and \u201cRock of Ages\u201d), Wendy Bobbitt-Cavett (&#8220;Mamma Mia!&#8221;) and others for a yearlong series of workshops with students and teachers focused on contemporary vocal and performing skills.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_38533\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2015\/10\/adam-pascal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38533\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38533\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2015\/10\/adam-pascal-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"Adam Pascal headshot\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-38533\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Adam Pascal<\/p><\/div>\n<p>All workshops are free and open to outside student and faculty observers, but members of the public must register for each event by contacting <a href=\"mailto:amanda.brewer@wright.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amanda.brewer@wright.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The yearlong program, called Musicals Rock, will immerse students and audiences in the entire world of Broadway pop and rock musicals, said Joe Deer, distinguished professor of musical theatre and Musical Theatre Initiative director.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the sound and style of the new Broadway. And we\u2019re preparing our students to enter that world professionally. We\u2019re opening the entire event up to the public as observers so that they can take advantage of a unique opportunity to meet some remarkable, very high-level artists up close and see them work with the talented students at Wright State,&#8221; Deer said. &#8220;Anyone who is interested in shows like &#8216;American Idiot,&#8217; &#8216;Hamilton,&#8217; &#8216;Mamma Mia&#8217; or any of the jukebox musicals that have been on Broadway in the last few years will want to take advantage of an unusual opportunity to study them up close.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Musical Theatre Initiative is an international center at Wright State that celebrates and explores the history, culture and craft of the musical theatre through workshops, conferences and performances.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Robert Brown has been hailed as \u201cone of Broadway\u2019s smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim\u201d by the Philadelphia Inquirer, and praised for his \u201cextraordinary, jubilant theater music\u201d by the Chicago Tribune.
