{"id":44226,"date":"2017-02-22T09:37:55","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T14:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=44226"},"modified":"2024-07-29T11:48:40","modified_gmt":"2024-07-29T15:48:40","slug":"investing-for-millennials-digital-financial-advice-among-topics-at-wright-states-third-annual-lift2-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2017\/02\/22\/investing-for-millennials-digital-financial-advice-among-topics-at-wright-states-third-annual-lift2-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"Investing for Millennials, digital financial advice among topics at Wright State\u2019s third annual LIFT2 Symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_44228\" style=\"width: 252px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2017\/02\/22\/investing-for-millennials-digital-financial-advice-among-topics-at-wright-states-third-annual-lift2-symposium\/joe-maugeri-staff\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-44228\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44228\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-44228\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2017\/02\/joe-maugeri-staff-242x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-44228\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Joseph Maugeri, managing director of corporate relations for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The future of financial planning \u2014 including investing for Millennials and digital financial advice \u2014 will be some highlight topics addressed by leaders in the industry at the third annual LIFT<sup>2 <\/sup> Symposium hosted by Wright State University.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/business.wright.edu\/finance-and-financial-services\/lift\/lift-2017\">LIFT<sup>2 <\/sup> (Leading Innovation in Finance Today and Tomorrow)<\/a> will be held Friday, March 24, in the Student Union from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected to attract hundreds of financial planning professionals from as far away as Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an exciting program,\u201d said co-coordinator Marlena Akhbari, associate professor and chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/business.wright.edu\/finance-and-financial-services\">finance<\/a> in Wright State\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/business.wright.edu\/\">Raj Soin College of Business<\/a>. \u201cWe like to have current topics that are cutting-edge, things that are on people\u2019s minds. And we\u2019ve attracted nationally recognized speakers who are the best of the best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speakers are Joseph Maugeri, managing director of corporate relations for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards; and Doug Lennick, CEO and co-founder of think2perform, a professional coaching, leadership consulting and business development company.<\/p>\n<p>Lennick will discuss the wealth-health connection or as he puts it, \u201cfrom misery to wisdom.\u201d Maugeri will discuss the industry\u2019s response to the explosion of digital advice.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Moore from the XY Planning Network will speak about investing for Millennials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a lot of firms all over this nation that would like to figure out what this guy has figured out,\u201d said Akhbari. \u201cWhen you\u2019ve got people in their 20s and 30s already saving, they will automatically be your high-worth individuals in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The symposium\u2019s target audience are client-facing professionals in the financial-services industry \u2014 financial planners, insurance professionals, foundation officials, bankers, asset managers and accountants. Many of them are Wright State alums. But the symposium is also for Wright State finance and financial planning students and those from other universities.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_44229\" style=\"width: 270px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2017\/02\/22\/investing-for-millennials-digital-financial-advice-among-topics-at-wright-states-third-annual-lift2-symposium\/doug_lennick_2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-44229\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44229\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-44229\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2017\/02\/doug_lennick_2-260x182.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-44229\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Doug Lennick, CEO and co-founder of think2perform.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe want to make sure that the symposium addresses a broad array of topics timely and important to the full gamut of financial services professionals,\u201d said Bill Wood, senior lecturer and coordinator of Wright State\u2019s financial services degree program. \u201cThe idea is to create something of a high quality that it is good for the industry and good for our students. It\u2019s a win-win situation. Our students are able to listen to these industry leaders speak and at the end of the day network with a variety of professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other sessions include \u201cHow to Keep Medicare from Ruining my Clients\u2019 Retirement\u201d by Katy Votava; \u201cComplex Cases in Tax and Insurance\u201d by David Houston; \u201cFinancial Planning for Divorce and its Complexities\u201d by Jeffrey Rattiner; \u201cWhy the Term \u2018Free Online Retirement Tool\u2019 Should Raise Concerns for Both Consumer and Adviser\u201d by Barry Mulholland; and \u201cThe Evolution of Banking: Where are We and Where are We Going?\u201d by Timothy M.
