To help faculty, staff and students who wish to quit, the university is partnering with Public Health\u2014Dayton and Montgomery County and WCORHA WELLScript to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wright.edu\/human-resources\/policies-and-resources\/tobacco-free-campus\">offer free tobacco cessation classes at the Dayton and Lake campuses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the guiding principles of Wright State\u2019s person-centered approach to the development of our employees and students is to promote behaviors that support a healthy workforce and student body,\u201d said Doug Newton, Wright State\u2019s Wellness Program director. \u201cWe are committed to offering a robust array of tobacco cessation resources to faculty, staff and students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dayton Campus:<\/strong><br \/>\nFive-week sessions begin March 8 and 9 in the Employee Health and Wellness Center, 111B Medical Sciences building. Classes take place:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesdays, 4\u20135 p.m., on March 8, 15, 22, 29 and April 5<\/li>\n<li>Thursdays, 11:30 a.m.\u201312:30 p.m., on March 9, 16, 23, 30 and April 6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2016\/11\/17\/wright-state-will-become-tobacco-free-on-july-1-2017\/tobacco-free-slide-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-43276\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-43276\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2016\/11\/tobacco-free-slide-2-260x204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"204\" \/><\/a>Classes include free nicotine replacement therapy patches. Clinical best practice smoking cessation is modeled after the Mayo Clinic program. Classes will take participants through the quitting process, from \u201cThinking About Quitting\u201d to \u201cStaying Quit For Good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lake Campus:<\/strong><br \/>\nAn eight-week group tobacco cessation class will be offered on Mondays, March 6 to April 24, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in 117 Dwyer Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will receive an individualized quit plan and learn about proven strategies, relapse prevention and the best nicotine replacement therapy for them.<\/p>\n<p>For more details or to register, contact Doug Newton at 937-775-5256 or <a href=\"mailto:doug.newton@wright.edu\">doug.newton@wright.edu<\/a>.
