{"id":48369,"date":"2017-10-06T15:51:48","date_gmt":"2017-10-06T19:51:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=48369"},"modified":"2017-10-06T15:51:48","modified_gmt":"2017-10-06T19:51:48","slug":"ddn-story-wright-state-could-merge-4-colleges-into-2-as-part-of-reorganization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2017\/10\/06\/ddn-story-wright-state-could-merge-4-colleges-into-2-as-part-of-reorganization\/","title":{"rendered":"DDN story: Wright State could merge 4 colleges into 2 as part of reorganization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-44532\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2017\/03\/wright-state-2017-logo-260x204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"204\" \/>Wright State University is undergoing a program prioritization process that could result in the merger of multiple departments and even entire colleges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>The university is considering merging its College of Education with the College of Liberal arts to create a College of Liberal Arts and Education, according to a board of trustees report.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>Wright State could combine its College of Science and Math with its College of Engineering to create a proposed STEM college.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>The school of psychology could also merge with the Boonshoft School of Medicine, according to the report.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>While the university may merge some of its colleges and schools, it could also create an entirely new one.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>Wright State may consolidate several of its health-related programs into something of a College of Health and Human Services, according to the report.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>Discussions of school and college mergers are currently underway and a formal reorganization proposal will be presented during an academic affairs and enrollment committee meeting of the board of trustees in February, according to the report.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>The merger plans come as Wright State looks to save money following recent budget cuts of $30.8 million.
