{"id":48818,"date":"2017-11-01T15:18:42","date_gmt":"2017-11-01T19:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=48818"},"modified":"2019-08-07T15:54:08","modified_gmt":"2019-08-07T19:54:08","slug":"smashing-pumpkins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2017\/11\/01\/smashing-pumpkins\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch: Smashing pumpkins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wright State students, faculty and staff could find plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween around campus over the last week.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wright.edu\/university-activities-board\">University Activities Board<\/a> along with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/international-education\">University Center for International Education<\/a> hosted the WSU Scare Fair in the Student Union Atrium. Students played games, ate popcorn, carved pumpkins and learned about different cultures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always trying to educate our international students on some American traditions,\u201d said Catherine Hernandez, international student program coordinator at the University Center for International Education.<\/p>\n<p>The Wright State Global Public Health Brigade hosted a Pumpkin Smash fundraiser on the Quad. Students paid $3 to smash a pumpkin with a sledgehammer. Proceeds from the event will benefit an upcoming trip to <a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2017\/05\/31\/wright-state-global-public-health-brigade-returns-from-nicaragua\/\">Nicaragua.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wright.edu\/student-affairs\/culture-and-identity-centers\/latino-affairs\"> Office of Latino Affairs<\/a> hosted a party to celebrate the Day of the Dead.
