{"id":50980,"date":"2018-03-12T16:07:44","date_gmt":"2018-03-12T20:07:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=50980"},"modified":"2018-03-12T16:07:44","modified_gmt":"2018-03-12T20:07:44","slug":"selection-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/03\/12\/selection-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Selection Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds of Wright State Raider fans packed the Student Union Atrium on March 11 to find out who and where the men\u2019s basketball will play in the NCAA basketball tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 Horizon League Champion Wright State men\u2019s basketball team will play No. 3 Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Dallas on Thursday, March 15. Game time is 12:40 p.m. Eastern. The Raiders are ranked 14th in the south region.<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders, making their third Division I NCAA tournament appearance, were a\u00a0No. 2 seed in the Horizon League tournament and defeated Green Bay, Milwaukee and Cleveland State in the championship game. Senior\u00a0Grant Benzinger, who has led the Raiders in scoring all season, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as freshman\u00a0Loudon Love was selected to the All-Tournament Team.<\/p>\n<p>For the regular season, Benzinger was named First-Team, Love to the Second Team and Freshman of the Year and junior\u00a0Mark Hughes\u00a0was placed on the All-Defensive Team.\u00a0Head coach\u00a0Scott Nagy\u00a0was named the Horizon League Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Wright State, which set a school record with 25 wins, also appeared in the 1993 tournament (16th seed) when they met Indiana and 2007 tournament (14th seed) against Pittsburgh.
