{"id":51273,"date":"2018-03-21T09:06:13","date_gmt":"2018-03-21T13:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=51273"},"modified":"2018-03-21T09:06:14","modified_gmt":"2018-03-21T13:06:14","slug":"wright-state-to-host-your-path-to-our-health-film-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/03\/21\/wright-state-to-host-your-path-to-our-health-film-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Wright State to host \u2018Your Path to Our Health\u2019 film series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/03\/21\/wright-state-to-host-your-path-to-our-health-film-series\/your-path-to-our-health-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-51276\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-51276\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2018\/03\/Your-Path-to-Our-Health-1-260x130.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"130\" \/><\/a>The short films chronicle the struggles and challenges of African Americans, Native Americans, Mexican immigrants, foster children, military veterans and other groups in overcoming health issues ranging from substance abuse and cultural loss to domestic abuse, depression and suicide.<\/p>\n<p>They are part of the \u201cYour Path to Our Health\u201d project, which explores the connection between culture and health with the aim of building an inclusive culture of health with evidence about what works to improve population health and health equity.<\/p>\n<p>Wright State University will showcase these 14 films on Thursday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in an installation in the Student Union Atrium.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free and open to Wright State students, who will be able to see the films \u2014 which range in length from five to eight minutes \u2014 at six viewing stations. Video logs and group discussions will enable students to share their thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>The filmmaker and collaborator, John Kennedy, will be available from 1 to 2 p.m. for informal conversation about the films.<\/p>\n<p>For each film that they watch, students will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of Beats Headphones and other prizes.<\/p>\n<p>The installation is hosted by the Wright State Veteran and Military Center; the Women\u2019s Center; the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center; Latino, Asian, Native American Affairs; LGBTQA Affairs; and Counseling and Wellness.<\/p>\n<p>Support for Your Path to Our Health is provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in collaboration with Purple States TV and the communities featured in the films. The Princeton, New Jersey-based foundation is the nation\u2019s largest philanthropy dedicated solely to health.
