{"id":52833,"date":"2018-06-21T09:45:56","date_gmt":"2018-06-21T13:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=52833"},"modified":"2018-06-21T14:45:43","modified_gmt":"2018-06-21T18:45:43","slug":"teacher-candidates-from-wright-state-and-other-ohio-public-universities-wield-huge-impact-across-the-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/06\/21\/teacher-candidates-from-wright-state-and-other-ohio-public-universities-wield-huge-impact-across-the-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher candidates from Wright State and other Ohio public universities wield huge impact across the state"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/06\/21\/teacher-candidates-from-wright-state-and-other-ohio-public-universities-wield-huge-impact-across-the-state\/economic-impact-graph-v01\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-52836\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-52836\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2018\/06\/Teacher-Economic-Impact-Pie-Chart-508x649.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"588\" \/><\/a>Future teachers from Ohio\u2019s public universities engage schoolchildren in every corner of the state and have a huge economic impact on the areas they serve, according to a new report from the State University Education Deans (SUED).<\/p>\n<p>For the 2016-17 academic year, teacher candidates at state universities were placed in 514 public school districts in all 88 Ohio counties, delivering an economic impact of $92.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>The student teachers were represented in 84 towns, 195 suburban districts, 178 rural districts and 47 districts in cities.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Keferl, SUED chair and dean of the <a href=\"https:\/\/education-human-services.wright.edu\/\">College of Education and Human Services at Wright State University<\/a>, said the 2018 report demonstrates the breadth of the teacher candidates\u2019 statewide footprint, their economic impact as they contribute to P\u201312 schools and the exceptional quality of the Ohio educational programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future of Ohio firmly rests on the ability and success of our educational systems working together for the good of all Ohio students,\u201d said Keferl. \u201cTogether we will ensure that Ohio\u2019s learners receive a world-class education \u2014 coupled with the school and community-based supports necessary to produce engaged Ohio citizens, foster healthy communities and grow Ohio\u2019s workforce and economic vitality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The State University Education Deans is an association of deans from Ohio\u2019s 13 public colleges of education.
