{"id":5294,"date":"2011-06-01T10:37:05","date_gmt":"2011-06-01T14:37:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=5294"},"modified":"2011-06-06T11:58:54","modified_gmt":"2011-06-06T15:58:54","slug":"dickens-classic-hits-the-herbst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2011\/06\/01\/dickens-classic-hits-the-herbst\/","title":{"rendered":"Dickens classic hits the Herbst"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_5296\" style=\"width: 245px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-5296\" href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2011\/06\/01\/dickens-classic-hits-the-herbst\/barnabyrudge2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5296\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5296\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2011\/06\/BarnabyRudge2-235x300.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of a boy dressed in medival clothes with a raven and a basket.\" width=\"235\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5296\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The world premiere of Bruce Cromer&#039;s adapation of Charles Dickens&#039; &quot;Barnaby Rudge: Part I&quot; will play for one weekend only.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Fourteen actors will play over 30 characters this weekend as the Wright State theatre department presents the world premiere of <em>Barnaby Rudge: Part I<\/em>, an adaptation of Charles Dickens&#8217; classic novel.<\/p>\n<p>The play will be performed for one weekend only June 3 and 4 at 8 p.m. and June 4 and 5 at 2 p.m. in the Herbst Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Set in and around 18th century London, <em>Barnaby Rudge <\/em>tells the story of a simple-minded young man and his mother who are endangered by a mysterious stranger. An unsolved murder from the past pulls four young lovers from four families into a plot of deception, danger and desire.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Cromer adapted the novel for the stage and will direct the production himself.<\/p>\n<p>Cromer, a professor of acting and movement, is the department&#8217;s area coordinator of acting. He is also a resident artist with the Human Race Theatre Company, a fight choreography expert and a certified teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors.<\/p>\n<p>The Herbst is a small, black-box theatre located in Wright State&#8217;s Creative Arts Center. The venue offers audiences an intimate theatrical experience without the distractions of large crowds or elaborate stage d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for adults. They go on sale 90 minutes prior to each performance at the Theatre Box Office.
