U.S. News & World Report has released its 2019 college rankings and Wright State University made multiple lists.<\/p>\n

The Soin College of Business earned Wright State its highest rating in the annual college ranking.<\/p>\n

The college of business was ranked No. 274 out of more than 500 schools. WSU tied with 38 other schools for the No. 274 spot, according to U.S. News.<\/p>\n

Rankings have\u201dbecome a shorthand way for people to evaluate the quality of a school,\u201d said Tom Traynor, interim dean of Wright State\u2019s Soin College of Business. While the rankings\u2014including U.S. News\u2019 \u2014aren\u2019t always very comprehensive, Traynor said they can help bolster programs and get them some much desired notoriety.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt matters,\u201d he said. \u201cLots of parents and families look at U.S. News & World Report.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wright State\u2019s engineering program also fared well among national universities, coming in at No. 146 overall in the category of schools with doctoral engineering programs. WSU\u2019s engineering program tied with 21 other schools including Boise State University and the University of Akron, according to U.S. News.<\/p>\n

In the category of \u201cBest National Universities,\u201d Wright State did not receive an official ranking but was named as being in the bottom 72 of 301 schools considered for the ranking.<\/p>\n

\u2022 No.146\u00a0<\/strong>in the overall category of best engineering programs with a doctoral program.<\/p>\n

\u2022 No. 274<\/strong>\u00a0in the category of best undergraduate business programs.<\/p>\n
