{"id":54995,"date":"2018-11-27T09:02:57","date_gmt":"2018-11-27T14:02:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=54995"},"modified":"2024-07-29T12:08:20","modified_gmt":"2024-07-29T16:08:20","slug":"raj-soin-college-of-business-awarded-50000-from-ohio-to-offer-short-term-certificates-for-in-demand-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/11\/27\/raj-soin-college-of-business-awarded-50000-from-ohio-to-offer-short-term-certificates-for-in-demand-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"Raj Soin College of Business awarded $50,000 from Ohio to offer short-term certificates for in-demand jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2017\/12\/08\/raj-soin-college-of-business-to-offer-entrepreneurship-major\/rike-hall-10776-0953\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-49442\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49442\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2017\/12\/rike-hall-10776-0953-508x286.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"https:\/\/business.wright.edu\/\">Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business<\/a> will offer 50 need-based tuition awards to students who pursue a short-term certificate in human resources, business analytics and information technology thanks to a $50,000 award from the state.<\/p>\n<p>The funding from the Ohio Department of Higher Education\u2019s Short Term Certificate Financial Assistance Program is designed help students receive training that leads to in-demand jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted that the Ohio Department of Higher Education found these programs to be worthy, based on their relevance to Ohio\u2019s workforce needs, to grant us funding to assist students who wish to earn these certificates,\u201d said Thomas Traynor, interim dean of the college.<\/p>\n<p>Each need-based eligible student will receive $1,000 in financial aid to be applied to their tuition. The $1,000 in financial aid will cover most of the tuition of the programs\u2019 first course. Non\u2010degree seeking students will be able to apply the certificate coursework toward a degree.<\/p>\n<p>The four certificates offered can be earned in less than a year and lead to an industry-recognized credential for an in-demand job. The initiative is designed to help Ohio retain and expand existing businesses, attract new investments and talent and to further entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<p>The undergraduate Business Analytics Certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct basic data analytics in occupations that require the evaluation of data and to support and work alongside data scientists. Currently, more than\u00a0an estimated 1,100 positions are open in Ohio with the skills under the broad area of business analytics.<\/p>\n<p>Students who complete the Human Resources Management (HRM) Certificate will be qualified for entry\u2010level and first\u2010level supervisory positions and prepare them to pass the entry\u2010level PHR or SHRM\u2010Certified Professional Certificate exams as well as the senior\u2010level SPHR or SHRM\u2010Senior Certified Professional Certificate exams.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The HR Certification Exam Preparation Course prepares students to pass the entry\u2010level PHR or SHRM\u2010Certified Professional Certificates, which demonstrates that they know the domain of HR knowledge even if they do not have the educational degree credentials. Most employers listing HR positions include HR professional certification from HRCI or SHRM as a preferred qualification in their job descriptions and position postings.<\/p>\n<p>The graduate Information Technology Management Certificate program enrolls IT professionals who hold a bachelor\u2019s degree and seek advanced leadership and managerial positions or professionals with a bachelor\u2019s degree in business looking to move into the field of information systems.
