They join continuing scholars Yasamine Edwards, a third-year medical student from Dayton; Jarrod Wurm, a fourth-year medical student from Republic, Ohio; and David Yoder, a fourth-year medical student from Bluffton, Ohio.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_55104\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/11\/28\/boonshoft-school-of-medicine-students-named-recipients-of-choose-ohio-first-scholarships-2\/16023-chris-dewitt-bsom-class-of-2019-7-26-15-29\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-55104\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55104\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-55104\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2018\/11\/Daniel-Keltner-260x260.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-55104\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daniel Keltner<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWorking in family medicine is more than just a job. You are adopted into the families of the patients you serve,\u201d said Crager, who practiced as a family medicine physician assistant for 15 years in Appalachian Ohio before enrolling in medical school. \u201cYou get to know everything about them and have the great pleasure and privilege to provide for their health care needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prabhu wants to join her mother in family medicine. Her grandfather built a family medicine practice in Woodlawn, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past 44 years, my grandfather, and later my mom, built relationships, practiced healing and fostered compassion between and amongst their patients,\u201d she said. \u201cIt would truly be a privilege to serve and learn alongside the community that they served for so many years.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_55106\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2018\/11\/28\/boonshoft-school-of-medicine-students-named-recipients-of-choose-ohio-first-scholarships-2\/19149-teresa-rickey-bsom-convocation-class-of-2021-portraits-7-9-17-11\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-55106\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55106\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-55106\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2018\/11\/Prabhu-Maya-260x260.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-55106\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maya Prabhu<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Choose Ohio First Primary Care Scholarship Program was created in 2010 with the passage of Ohio HB 198, Ohio\u2019s patient-centered medical home legislation. Fifty medical students throughout Ohio can receive up to $120,000 in scholarship funding throughout their four-year medical education. Recipients are selected from Case Western Reserve University, Northeast Ohio Medical University, Ohio University, Ohio State University, University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati and Wright State University.<\/p>\n<p>Scholarship recipients must be Ohio residents and show a commitment to community service. They must commit to a residency in family medicine, general internal medicine, general pediatrics or geriatrics. After completing residency, each recipient must agree to practice full time in Ohio for at least three years in primary care (family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics or geriatrics).
