{"id":57165,"date":"2016-09-15T09:20:16","date_gmt":"2016-09-15T13:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2016\/09\/15\/excellence-in-human-relations-unclassified-3\/"},"modified":"2019-02-12T10:49:16","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T15:49:16","slug":"excellence-in-human-relations-unclassified-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2016\/09\/15\/excellence-in-human-relations-unclassified-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Excellence in Human Relations (Unclassified)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sarah Cicora is known for her passion, leadership, compassion and knowledge in advising students while helping to meet their needs.<\/p>\n<p>Cicora has served as an academic adviser in the <a href=\"http:\/\/science-math.wright.edu\/psychology\">Department of Psychology<\/a> for three years, exemplifying an incomparable empathy, enthusiasm and knowledge that lead students to a better understanding of themselves and the academic road ahead.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_57169\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/dialogue\/2016\/09\/excellence-in-human-relations-unclassified-3\/17718-presidents-awards-for-excellence-staff-awards-8-22-16-16\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8354\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8354\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/dialogue\/files\/2016\/09\/17882_-Sarah-Cicora-362-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"Sarah Cicora\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-57169\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sarah Cicora<\/p><\/div>\n<p>She has developed and launched the Psychology Admission Reception for newly admitted majors and has received positive feedback from students. She also started an effort to repurpose a room as a study center for undergraduates called the Psychology Student Success Center. Additionally, she has increased the Department of Psychology student population by promoting it in local high schools.<\/p>\n<p>As a trained clinical mental health counselor, Cicora brings a valuable skillset needed to work with students from all walks of life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese students find an adviser who cares enough to go the extra mile to ensure that they\u2019re on the right track,\u201d said Patricia Schiml, research professor in the Department of Psychology. \u201cI know personally of several students grappling with problems ranging from depression, learning disabilities, financial stresses to family conflict for whom Sarah provided information on where to find help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students feel comfortable sharing their life with Cicora, who responds with openness and advice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo some, they may think she&#8217;s just doing her job, but to me she&#8217;s my co-captain.
