Oldstone-Moore\u2019s book on the history of beards has made headlines around the country and Oldstone-Moore a celebrity on the talk show circuit.<\/p>\n<p>And it has given the nation a glimpse of the talent and accomplishments of the senior lecturer in the <a href=\"http:\/\/liberal-arts.wright.edu\/history\">Department of History<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has all the goods,\u201d said Kristin Sobolik, <a href=\"http:\/\/liberal-arts.wright.edu\/\">College of Liberal Arts<\/a> dean. \u201cHe not only is a top-notch scholar but engages students through innovative projects and writing assignments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oldstone-Moore\u2019s courses on gender, empire and regional Third World studies have enhanced several programs as well as the university\u2019s international curriculum.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8241\" style=\"width: 247px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/dialogue\/files\/2016\/09\/17507-092-Christopher-Oldstone-Moore-2-237x300.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8241\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8241\" class=\"wp-image-8241 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/dialogue\/files\/2016\/09\/17507-092-Christopher-Oldstone-Moore-2-237x300.jpg\" alt=\"Christopher Oldstone-Moore\" width=\"237\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8241\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christopher Oldstone-Moore<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cChristopher Oldstone-Moore has demonstrated a pattern of pedagogical innovation and that fosters student engagement,\u201d said John Sherman, professor of history.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently Oldstone-Moore has garnered attention with his book, \u201cOf Beards and Men: The Revealing History of Facial Hair.\u201d He spent more than 10 years researching and chronicling facial hair trends. The book grew out of his teaching and his desire to make his classes interesting, visual and include cultural history.<\/p>\n<p>He has been interviewed by &#8220;CBS Sunday Morning,&#8221; NPR, BBC Radio, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Esquire magazine. Excerpts of his book have appeared in Harper\u2019s Magazine, The Atlantic and New Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Oldstone-Moore has also authored the book \u201cHugh Price Hughes: Founder of New Methodism, Conscience of New Nonconformity\u201d and several journal articles.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from writing, Oldstone-Moore has received high evaluation scores from students and has earned the Wright State Excellence in Teaching General Education and Wright State Honors Teacher of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>He serves as the history department\u2019s director of graduate studies and on other committees.
