White Distinguished Professor of Professional Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To say that Carol Loranger does it all is an exaggeration \u2014 but not by much.<\/p>\n<p>The associate professor of English chairs the <a href=\"http:\/\/liberal-arts.wright.edu\/english-language-and-literatures\">Department of English Languages and Literatures<\/a>. She is also president of the Faculty Senate and helped in transitioning the campus from quarters to semesters.<\/p>\n<p>But equally important is what Loranger does outside the university.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s her fantastic service in the community,\u201d said Kristin Sobolik, <a href=\"http:\/\/liberal-arts.wright.edu\/\">College of Liberal Arts<\/a> dean. \u201cFor example, she has been integrally involved in the success of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_57293\" style=\"width: 238px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/dialogue\/17507-seth-bauguess-faculty-awards-for-excellence-5-12-16-3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57293\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8207\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/dialogue\/files\/2016\/07\/Carol-Loranger-5-16-2-228x300.jpg\" alt=\"Carol Loranger\" width=\"228\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-57293\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Carol Loranger<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Loranger has been heavily involved in the peace prize, helping plan award events and sponsoring authors who visit campus. Loranger serves on the peace prize steering committee and the Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award selection committee. She also created a website brimming with information on the prizewinners.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Loranger helped shape the Dayton Regional STEM School&#8217;s humanities and fine arts curriculum and served on the Dayton Opera board. She has linked the campus to arts organizations and developed relations with international partners to smooth the transition of visiting Chinese faculty and students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarol is tireless in her commitment to service in the broadest possible sense,\u201d said Sobolik.<\/p>\n<p>In her department, Loranger co-chairs a re-accreditation committee and edited the curriculum to meet Common Core Standards.<\/p>\n<p>She is heavily involved in Wright State\u2019s American Association of University Professors chapter, co-chaired the Undergraduate Academic Policies Committee and served on the Ad Hoc Policies Review Committee.
