{"id":58638,"date":"2019-02-26T09:04:23","date_gmt":"2019-02-26T14:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=58638"},"modified":"2022-09-27T11:26:26","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T15:26:26","slug":"wright-state-grad-student-ronnie-moreland-named-among-daytons-top-10-african-american-men-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2019\/02\/26\/wright-state-grad-student-ronnie-moreland-named-among-daytons-top-10-african-american-men-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Wright State grad student Ronnie Moreland named among Dayton\u2019s Top 10 African American Men of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_58654\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2019\/02\/26\/wright-state-grad-student-ronnie-moreland-named-among-daytons-top-10-african-american-men-of-the-year\/ronnie-moreland\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-58654\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58654\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-58654\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2019\/02\/Ronnie-Moreland-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-58654\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ronnie Moreland is a master of public administration student at Wright State.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Wright State University graduate student Ronnie Moreland, a longtime community leader, is among Dayton\u2019s 2019 Top 10 African American Men of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Moreland, who is pursuing his <a href=\"https:\/\/liberal-arts.wright.edu\/school-of-public-and-international-affairs\/master-of-public-administration\">master\u2019s degree in public administration<\/a>, was named to the Top 10 list by Parity Inc., a nonprofit group that seeks greater participation and inclusion of African Americans in the development of policies.<\/p>\n<p>He was honored during a Feb. 14 luncheon at Sinclair Community College\u2019s Ponitz Center.<\/p>\n<p>A Dayton native, Moreland began his public service work with The West Dayton Boys and Girls Club in the 1970s.<\/p>\n<p>He is a past co-president of Leaders for Equality and Action in Dayton (LEAD), where he helped provide leadership to a network of diverse faith-based congregations to address and solve community-based problems.<\/p>\n<p>Moreland was instrumental in assisting LEAD in securing the extension of public transportation to Greene County through a ruling from the U.S. Department of Transportation Civil Rights Division in 2013.
