I attended nearly 70 shows over the past 12 months, and  unsurprisingly, the triumphs outweighed the troubled.<\/p>\n<p>Among the  highlights: . . .the Human Race Theatre Company and Wright State University\u2019s dynamically  dysfunctional\u00a0\u201cAugust: Osage County\u201d; and the Dayton Philharmonic and  Wright State\u2019s stunning presentation of Leonard Bernstein\u2019s rarely  attempted \u201cMASS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Based on the artistic strengths of the Human Race\/WSU  and DPO\/WSU collaborations, I certainly hope the organizations consider  joining forces to stage Stephen Sondheim\u2019s \u201cFollies\u201d in 2012-13.<\/p>\n<p>((In his list of the &#8220;season&#8217;s best,&#8221; critic Russell Florence, Jr. mentions Wright State shows more than 30 times.))<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.daytonmostmetro.com\/performing-arts-theater\/saluting-dayton%E2%80%99s-2010-11-theater-season.html\">DaytonMostMetro.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>((Excerpt)) Splendid collaborations, promising new works, compelling dramas and knockout regional and local premieres impressively accented Dayton\u2019s strong, refreshingly progressive 2010-11 theater season.
