<\/a>Lloyd set or helped set school records this season in the 100 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles and 4x100 meter relay.<\/p><\/div>\n
Junior Cassandra Lloyd has been selected as the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Female Athlete of the Year, it was announced Thursday by the league office. Results were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.<\/p>\n
Lloyd (Springfield, OH\/South) became the only Horizon League track All-American in 2011 as she finished 14th in the 100 meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. She took the title in the 100 meter hurdles at the Horizon League championships this season, breaking the conference record with a time of 13.38 and was a member of the winning 4×100 relay team, earning Outstanding Runner accolades.<\/p>\n
Ranked 21st in the 100 meter hurdles at the end of the regular season, Lloyd shattered the school record in the event on four occasions in 2011, lowering the mark to 13.38 seconds. She also broke the school record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.87 and was a member of the 4×100 team that broke the record three times, the final being 46.68.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Lloyd was also named the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year and, during the 2009-10 year, she was the Co-Athlete of the Year during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. As a result, Lloyd is the first Horizon League female athlete to earn both indoor and outdoor athlete of the year honors in back-to-back seasons. She was also the league’s Outdoor Running Newcomer of the Year in 2008-09.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
