{"id":75326,"date":"2019-10-03T14:54:21","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T18:54:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=75326"},"modified":"2019-10-03T14:58:01","modified_gmt":"2019-10-03T18:58:01","slug":"whio-new-wright-state-festival-of-flight-to-feature-food-trucks-haunted-trail-golf-cart-parade-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2019\/10\/03\/whio-new-wright-state-festival-of-flight-to-feature-food-trucks-haunted-trail-golf-cart-parade-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"WHIO: New Wright State Festival of Flight to feature food trucks, haunted trail, golf cart parade and more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"cmgo_is_paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-75105\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2019\/10\/festivalofflight-600x250-508x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"192\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"cmgo_is_paragraph\">A new community event dedicated to flight will have something for everyone including flyovers, sports, music, a haunted trail, a golf cart parade, beer and food trucks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cmgo_is_paragraph\">The\u00a0<b>Festival of Flight<\/b>, a free family festival hosted by Wright State University, will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nutter Center.<\/p>\n<p>The festival will celebrate aviation and highlight the importance of the Miami Valley\u2019s aviation heritage with a jam-packed schedule of entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s no secret that the Dayton community takes great pride in our rich aviation legacy. What this festival will provide is the ability to engage young and old alike in the heritage of aviation as well as STEM aspects of flight,&#8221; Amy Spowart, executive director of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, said in a release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cmgo_is_paragraph\">Hands-on and experiences, many geared toward children, will be held throughout the day along with demonstrations by WSU teachers and researchers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cmgo_is_paragraph\">Sports fans can watch a variety of sporting events throughout the day including the USA Patriots Amputee Softball Team take on local military personnel, a vintage baseball children\u2019s clinic and a softball game matching Wright State and Cedarville University.<\/p>\n<p>Flyovers are planned throughout the day from the Fastrax Professional Skydiving Team at 10:50 a.m.; WACO Air Museum\u2019s YMF-5 at 12:25 p.m.; Red Star flying team at 2:30 p.m.; \u201cChampion Gal,\u201d a B-25 World War II bomber at 4 p.m. and World War I biplanes at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Three local bands, Lights Out, Summer Highway and Mad River Dogs, will perform throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cmgo_is_paragraph\">A food and drink hanger will be on site as will a variety of food trucks including El Meson, Claybourne Grill, HaolePino Hawaiian Filipino, Greek Street, Good Golly Miss Molly, Rock Stop and Roll, Hunger Paynes, Kona Ice, Riddle\u2019s Ribs, Pit to Plate, Philly Pretzel, Lee\u2019s Famous Recipe and Rolling Indulgence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cmgo_is_paragraph\">A beer garden will offer beer and flights of wine.<\/p>\n<p>At 5 p.m., a mascot challenge will take place. At 6 p.m., a golf cart parade will being.
