Thomas Traynor has been named dean of the Wright State Raj Soin College of Business.<\/p><\/div>\n

Wright State University has named a new dean of the Raj Soin College of Business.<\/p>\n

Former interim dean of the College of Business Thomas Traynor was promoted to the position.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m really ready to move forward with initiatives that we\u2019ve already started as well as new ones,\u201d Traynor said. \u201cInstead of a standalone analytics program, we want our analytics education to be tied to the individual areas of business so that students are educated in accounting analytics or financial analytics and so on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Traynor is moving into the position as former Dean Joanne Li transitions into a new role as the dean of the College of Business at Florida International University.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cShe (Li)\u00a0 brought a lot of attention to the college which I thought was very good,\u201d Traynor said. \u201cShe made sure the region broadly had a much better sense for the quality of the business education that we offered and the quality of the faculty at this business school. My goal is to continue that as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joining the Wright State faculty the same year he earned a Ph.D. in economics from Purdue University in 1988, Traynor started as an assistant professor and became a professor of economics in 2003. He was the chair of the Department of Education from 1998 to 2001 and from 2010 to 2016.<\/p>\n

As the interim dean, Traynor facilitated the development of a new master\u2019s degree program in marketing analytics, a new graduate certificate in IT management and a new undergraduate certificate in business analytics, according to Wright State University\u00a0Newsroom<\/a>.\u00a0Traynor also oversaw the construction of the college\u2019s New Center for Career Management, which provides a dedicated space for student career preparation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI learned a lot in my prior administrative roles, as well as faculty so I think I can bring all that experience together to more efficiently take on the duties of this job. I\u2019m really looking forward to continuing to work with our great faculty, staff and students. We really have a good base,\u201d Traynor said.<\/p>\n
