Wright State University\u2019s fifth annual Champions Ball attracted veteran students, community members and guests for a night of food, camaraderie and dancing.<\/p>\n
Held Nov. 9 in the Dunbar Library, the Champions Ball celebrated the five-year anniversary of the Veteran and Military Center at Wright State and provided business and community leaders an opportunity to interact with student veterans.<\/p>\n
\u201cI still feel like we have more to do but we\u2019ve done a good job so far,\u201d said Seth Gordon, director of the Veteran and Military Center.<\/p>\n
At the event, Ericka Carter-LaForse and David Berry both received awards for their dedication and service to the success of the Veteran and Military Center and the Veterans Voices Project.<\/p>\n
The Veteran and Military Center launched the\u00a0Veterans Voices Project<\/a>\u00a0as a way to connect Wright State student veterans with local veterans by interviewing them about their military service. Stories are sent to the Library of Congress, archived on\u00a0Wright State\u2019s CORE Scholar<\/a> and shared on the project\u2019s Facebook page and YouTube channel. The project has also included a series of stories produced by and featuring Wright State student-veterans on WYSO Public Radio and a full-length documentary, “Veterans Voices: Lives and Stories<\/a>,” which will debut on Nov. 21 at the Neon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Wright State University\u2019s fifth annual Champions Ball attracted veteran students, community members and guests for a night of food, camaraderie and dancing.
