{"id":78059,"date":"2019-11-19T10:29:33","date_gmt":"2019-11-19T15:29:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=78059"},"modified":"2019-11-19T10:29:33","modified_gmt":"2019-11-19T15:29:33","slug":"stem-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2019\/11\/19\/stem-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"STEM Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2019\/11\/19\/stem-experience\/stem-experience-student-20070_809\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-78071\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-78071\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2019\/11\/STEM-Experience-student-20070_809-508x317.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a>High school students interested in science, engineering, computer science, mathematics or other related careers can get hands-on experience at Wright State University on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The STEM Experience, sponsored by the <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering-computer-science.wright.edu\/\">College of Engineering and Computer Science<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/science-math.wright.edu\/\">College of Science and Mathematics<\/a>, is the perfect opportunity for high school students and their families to learn about STEM-related majors while experiencing Wright State\u2019s laboratories.<\/p>\n<p>Students can customize their adventure based on the area of interest they choose when they <a href=\"https:\/\/wrightstate.secure.force.com\/EventListing?eventId=7011S000000khYQ&amp;utm_source=stemexperience_redirect&amp;utm_medium=media_sharing_stemexperience_redirect&amp;utm_campaign=stem_redirect_stemexperience_2019\">register<\/a>. They can take a look inside one of the first semester courses and tour campus facilities, including the impressive Neuroscience Engineering Collaboration Building.<\/p>\n<p>Participants can talk with faculty members about their college or career plans. In addition, current Wright State students will be on hand to discuss student life and student organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees may also:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>participate in augmented reality, artificial intelligence and sensory technology demonstrations.<\/li>\n<li>use the additive manufacturing system \u2014 and make something to take home.<\/li>\n<li>explore genes through fluorescent proteins.<\/li>\n<li>understand how the nervous system impacts reaction times.<\/li>\n<li>observe robots, drones and vehicles in action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>High school students are encouraged to <a href=\"https:\/\/wrightstate.secure.force.com\/EventListing?eventId=7011S000000khYQ&amp;utm_source=stemexperience_redirect&amp;utm_medium=media_sharing_stemexperience_redirect&amp;utm_campaign=stem_redirect_stemexperience_2019\">register for the STEM Experience<\/a> by Nov. 21.
