{"id":82895,"date":"2020-02-25T08:57:29","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T13:57:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=82895"},"modified":"2020-02-25T08:57:29","modified_gmt":"2020-02-25T13:57:29","slug":"run-hide-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2020\/02\/25\/run-hide-fight\/","title":{"rendered":"Run, hide, fight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/police\">Wright State University Police Department<\/a> offers free ALICE training to students, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n<p>ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate, which are the steps needed to follow when facing an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>The course helps prepares participants to proactively handle an active shooter event or an aggressive individual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to get the word out to as many people as possible,\u201d said Stephen Powers, a sergeant in the Wright State Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>The two-hour course involves a PowerPoint presentation, which includes several training videos, and two scenarios in which participants practice the techniques they learn during training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned a lot,\u201d said Mia Williams Burnett, a graduate student that completed the course on Feb 19.<\/p>\n<p>The next training session will be offered on April 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. Reserve your spot by emailing Sgt.
