{"id":86501,"date":"2020-04-22T10:14:14","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T14:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=86501"},"modified":"2020-04-22T10:14:14","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T14:14:14","slug":"abc22-fox45-wright-state-offers-support-and-scholarships-to-urbana-university-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2020\/04\/22\/abc22-fox45-wright-state-offers-support-and-scholarships-to-urbana-university-students\/","title":{"rendered":"ABC22\/Fox45: Wright State offers support and scholarships to Urbana University students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-86509\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-22-at-10.13.02-AM-260x146.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"146\" \/>Following the announcement that\u00a0Urbana University will be closing permanently\u00a0at the end of spring semester, Wright State University reached out to offer both emotional and financial support to students who might be wondering what it next for their education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that the COVID-19 pandemic has presented a challenge for all educational institutions,\u201d said Wright State President Sue Edwards. \u201cWe\u2019re very sad that it has resulted in Urbana University closing, so we want to help their students as best we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wright State is offering current Urbana University the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic scholarships for fall and spring semesters<\/li>\n<li>Housing scholarships for the fall and spring semesters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cCollege students are already experiencing stress as they\u2019ve had to adapt to classes being offered remotely,\u201d said Jen McCamis, Wright State\u2019s director of admissions. \u201cWe\u2019re here to make sure students displaced by Urbana University\u2019s closure don\u2019t have additional stress as they determine how they will finish their degrees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Urbana University students are invited to meet virtually one-on-one with Wright State advisors to talk about degree options, transferring credits, financial aid, housing, student life, and the University Honors program, as well as to answer any other questions they may have.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe these students will see that Wright State is a good fit for them, and maybe not, but we want them to know we are here for them if they need us,\u201d said McCamis. \u201cIf we can ease their stress a little bit, we\u2019re eager to help.
