{"id":88430,"date":"2020-05-12T13:11:55","date_gmt":"2020-05-12T17:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=88430"},"modified":"2020-05-12T13:11:55","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T17:11:55","slug":"dayton-24-7-now-wright-state-students-to-share-5-million-in-cares-act-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2020\/05\/12\/dayton-24-7-now-wright-state-students-to-share-5-million-in-cares-act-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"Dayton 24\/7 Now: Wright State students to share $5 million in CARES Act funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-44532\" src=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2017\/03\/wright-state-2017-logo-260x204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"204\" \/>Eligible Wright State students can expect to receive more than $5 million in CARES Act funds.<\/p>\n<p>The CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) provides funding to institutions to provide emergency financial aid grants to students whose lives have been disrupted, many of whom are facing financial challenges and struggling to make ends meet due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Wright State received $5,070,423 from the U.S. Department of Education to provide direct relief to students who attended in spring 2020 and experienced disruption due to COVID-19. More than 5,700 Wright State students \u2014 including undergraduate, graduate, School of Professional Psychology and Boonshoft School of Medicine students \u2014 are eligible.<\/p>\n<p>Student must meet certain eligibility requirements to receive CARES Act HEERF funding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree seeking<\/li>\n<li>Continued enrollment for the spring 2020 semester<\/li>\n<li>Enrolled in one or more face-to face course that was converted to remote instruction after March 13, 2020<\/li>\n<li>Title IV eligible: Student filed a FAFSA and completed all outstanding requirements to receive federal financial aid prior to May 1, 2020, and met satisfactory academic progress standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wright State will automatically award students who meet the above eligibility requirements. Funds will be disbursed based on each student\u2019s FAFSA.
