Brooklyn born, Puerto Rican painter and installation artist Yasmin Hernandez visited Wright State for the inaugural Women’s History Month Residency in 2010, sponsored by the Women’s Center and Women’s Studies program. Hernandez delivered the Women’s History Month keynote lecture, “Linea Negra (Black Line).” Her talk explored birthing as a sacred state and sought to reclaim the experience from a male-dominated, over-medicalized industry.
