Dayton planned and hosted a huge celebration, the Dayton Homecoming Celebration, for their native sons in June in honor of their achievements. The brothers were not very keen about the whole thing, but went along with it. They received many medals and accolades during the celebration. A huge ceremony was held at the Fairgrounds. Parades and floats, marching bands, historical character reenactments, etc., marked the occasion.
