Wright State has nearly 700 students who are military veterans.
Time and again, the veterans say Wright State acknowledges the experience and value of veterans and has created a welcoming environment that enhances learning.
Wright State is a leader in providing services to veterans and their families.
The university offers resources to help military-connected students transition to campus, awards educational credits for military training and experience, and has designed courses open only to veteran and military students. It also delivers high-quality career services to best express military experience and helps veterans connect with other students through campus events, housing options and student clubs.
Military Advanced Education Magazine as well as G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, have both awarded Wright State the designation of Military Friendly School for the third consecutive year. The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
Wright State will honor its veterans with Veterans Appreciation Day on Nov. 10 with a series of events in the Student Union Atrium and Commuter Lounge. The events include a noon panel discussion on the book One Bullet Away: The Making of a Marine Officer, collecting unit patches and related items from noon to 1 p.m. for creation of a permanent display, and discussion by a student panel of veterans from 1-2 p.m. introduced by President David R. Hopkins.
The events are sponsored by the Division of Enrollment Management and the Veteran and Military-Connected Student Committee.
