Inder Khera, professor of marketing and international business, was recently selected for a Smithsonian Research Fellow designation by the Smithsonian Institution.
Khera will conduct consumer research at various museums operated by the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. He is the first faculty member in the Raj Soin College of Business to receive this honor.
Khera has been collaborating with one of the Smithsonian’s senior behavioral scientists on a consumer study about the National Zoo. Khera plans to conduct additional research on consumer opinions, perceptions and behavior regarding other major Smithsonian museums located on the National Mall. He will be researching the role of parents in the socialization of children to the museum culture and the effect of overarching brands, such as the Smithsonian brand, on museum visits.
The Smithsonian’s Office of Policy & Analysis will provide Khera with physical space, computer access and research access to the museums.
