The mass demonstrations in Egypt have finally resulted in the stepping down of Hosni Mubarak, who had been in power for 30 years.
“This is the culmination of 30 years of rule, as well as a couple of more recent sparks,” said Vaughn Shannon Ph.D., an assistant professor of political science.
Driven by economic issues such as rising food prices and stagnating salaries, Egyptian protesters has previously assembled in 2008, and the killing of a young man by Egyptian police led to more recent protests last year.
