(L–R) Wright State Vice President of Student Affairs Dan Abrahamowicz congratulates Bobbi Warrington for being named Wright State's Parent of the Year. Her son is Student Government vice president Nick Warrington.
Wright State University’s Parent of the Year Award was presented to Bobbi Warrington, a single mother from Wellston, Ohio, whose son, Nick Warrington, is vice president of Student Government.
In nominating his mother for the award, Nick said she is “superhero” because she has worked three jobs since he was in high school but still found time to be by his side, support his interests and encourage him to dream big.
“If it weren’t for my mom’s unconditional love, support and motivation, I would not be where I am today,” Nick wrote in his nomination. “Sometimes I find it hard to show her how I appreciate her and how much she means to me; this award would give me the opportunity to show her how greatly I appreciate everything she has done.”
A four-member committee of Wright State staff members reviews the nominations, which include a 500-word essay.
Bobbi was honored Feb. 12 during the Parents & Family Weekend Breakfast with the President at the Student Union, attended by Wright State President David R. Hopkins.
