By all accounts, Tony Ortiz has made a career out of being a friend to students.
Graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1978, the Lorain, Ohio native got his start at Beavercreek schools as a Spanish teacher and athletic trainer in 1980, which brought him to the Dayton area.
Ortiz today is Wright State University’s associate vice president of Latino affairs, but his 30-year Raider career has featured other roles. He started as a WSU athletic trainer. He was one of the founders of the Greater Dayton Athletic Trainers Association and served as its president.
