Raidersgiving will offer to-go meals this Thanksgiving

Wright State University students, staff, faculty and alumni who do not plan to go home for Thanksgiving can enjoy a holiday meal thanks to the ninth annual Raidersgiving.

Free Thanksgiving meals will be ready for pick up on Wednesday, Nov. 25, between noon and 2 p.m. in the Student Union’s Apollo Room.

Participants must register for meals online by Nov. 15.

Community members may receive up to four meals. Meals available this year are:

  • Traditional Thanksgiving meal (roast turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, fresh green beans, roll and butter)
  • Vegan meal (Indian stew-kidney bean and potato with basmati rice, naan bread and chocolate chip cookies)
  • Gluten-free meal (turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and celery sage dressing with broth)
  • Halal meal (chicken kabob, basmati rice, green beans, roll and butter)

More details are available at wright.edu/raidersgiving.

Although the university cannot hold a traditional in-person Thanksgiving gathering, the Raidersgiving committee found an alternative solution to provide meals that Wright State community members can enjoy for the holiday.

“The isolation, because of the pandemic, has really curtailed our togetherness — one of the very things Raidersgiving attempts to accomplish. The Raidersgiving committee believes that the need this year will be greater than ever,” said Fran Keeley, special events and Presidential Ambassador Program director. “As our students, employees and alumni register for their meals, the committee hopes this will in some way let them know that they really aren’t alone, even though we’re not together.”

“We endeavored to re-think how we could serve our students, employees and alumni in a meaningful way,” said Sommer Todd, director of university fiscal services. “Even if we can’t be together on Thanksgiving, we can provide them a meal and hopefully they will share their photos (@raidersgiving) as they enjoy the food provided.”
