Alumni Service Week features at-home volunteer opportunities

Wright State University alumni, students and employees can give back to the community through several virtual volunteer opportunities offered during the Alumni Association’s Alumni Service Week Jan. 18–23.

Alumni Service Week continues the association’s tradition of serving Dayton-area nonprofits with an annual community service event. In order to continue that tradition safely, the association has arranged opportunities for volunteers to support nonprofit partners from home.

Community service opportunities are available with United Rehabilitation Services, SICSA and VITAS Healthcare.

Volunteers should register online at community.wrightstatealumni.com.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • United Rehabilitation Services: Volunteers will build kits for Project STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math). Volunteers will devise a project for students in preschool to third grade based around one of the STEAM disciplines, gather supplies, and put them together in individual bags or boxes in a set of 10. Examples and instructions will be provided after signing up.
  • SICSA: Volunteers can support SICSA by donating, buying items off their wish list, or signing up to make homemade dog treats or cat enrichment toys. Examples and instructions will be provided after signing up.
  • VITAS Healthcare: Those with sewing experience can support VITAS Healthcare by completing a sewing project, such as a pillow or memory bear for patients’ loved ones. Examples and instructions will be provided after signing up.
