A few days after the Wright State women’s basketball team’s historic season came to an end as the 13-seeded Raiders advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in San Antonio, they gathered to capture their experience digitally.
On March 23, the team and coaching staff posed for pictures with the Horizon League Championship Trophy in the Setzer Pavilion.
“Having pictures today was important,” said Angel Baker, junior guard and the 2021 Horizon League Tournament MVP. “It was a nice way to just soak it all in.”
Picture Day was originally scheduled for last fall but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the team pictures were canceled.
“Finally we get to wear our all-black outfits and get dressed up,” said Tyler Frierson, senior center who was named to the Horizon League All-Defensive Team. “This year is new because we get to wear our championship gear and plus the trophy too.”
Frierson shared that support from the community has been tremendous during their challenging but remarkable season, she hopes the enthusiasm continues next season.
“Next year when we can finally have fans we’ll get more people there to finally realize that the women’s team is special,” said Frierson.
