Wright State University’s Raiderthon hosted a 12-hour dance marathon to raise money for sick children on April 1 in the Student Union Apollo Room.
“This year we have nearly 300 participants registered at the event,” said Amber Barga, a senior majoring in communication studies and Raiderthon president. “I think people want to come because it’s a giant party.”
At the dance marathon, members of the Wright State Miracle Makers celebrated the culmination of their yearlong fundraising efforts with dancing, food, games, guest speakers and live entertainment.
This year’s marathon raised $50,687. Since 2013, Raiderthon has raised awareness and over $450,000 for Dayton Children’s Hospital.
Raiderthon was hosted by the Wright State Miracle Makers, a division of The Children’s Miracle Network, which supports local children’s hospitals. All proceeds from Raiderthon go toward a fund at Dayton Children’s Hospital that helps families pay their hospital bills, meals and parking.
