Wright State University to launch Stars, Stripes, Flight Classic with Raiders-Air Force basketball game on Nov. 30 at Nutter Center

The Nov. 30 Stars, Stripes, Flight Classic is expected to be the first of many contests between Wright State University, the Air Force Academy and other military-connected institutions

Tickets are now on sale for the Wright State men’s basketball game against the Air Force Academy on Nov. 30 in the Wright State University Nutter Center.

Single-game tickets can be purchased at wsuraiders.com.

In recognition of the special opportunity the Wright State-Air Force contest presents, the game will be called the Stars, Stripes, Flight Classic and the winning program will receive a special commemorative trophy.

The Big Hoopla, host of the NCAA Tournament’s First Four in Dayton, and CareSource have been named the title sponsors of the game.

“Wright State is thrilled to host the Air Force Falcons once again in the Nutter Center,” said Wright State President Sue Edwards. “As an anchor institution to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, we hope military-connected community members, especially those with ties to the Air Force, will join the Wright State community for a fun night of neighborly competition and great basketball.”

The game is anticipated to be the first of many contests between Wright State University, the Air Force Academy and other military-connected institutions across the country.

The highly anticipated contest will not only celebrate the region’s veterans and active-duty military but will also serve as the kick-off event for the Big Hoopla, the activities surrounding the NCAA Tournament’s First Four next spring.

“We are proud to collaborate with CareSource and the Big Hoopla to present what we know will be a fantastic night of basketball and community,” Director of Athletics Joylynn Brown said. “We look forward to creating another special memory as we bring Wright State, the Raider family and members of the military community together inside the Nutter Center.”

In addition to the action on the court, the game will feature an Air Force swearing-in ceremony at halftime, while T-shirts will be given out to all in attendance. Fans will also be able to take advantage of several special concessions deals.

This will be the third meeting all time between the two schools, who met in back-to-back Decembers in a home-and-home series late in the 2010 and 2011 calendar years. The Raiders won the first meeting on Dec. 8, 2010, at the Nutter Center, while Air Force won the follow-up contest on Dec. 7, 2011, in Colorado.

The Nov. 30 game will not be the last time Wright State will square off against the Air Force Academy, as the Raider baseball team will host the Falcons at Nischwitz Stadium in March 2025.
