Wright State University students, staff, faculty and alumni enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal together at the 11th annual Raidersgiving.
About 40 volunteers planned the event and prepared the food. Faculty and staff greeted patrons as they enjoyed a buffet-style meal along with music, games, crafts and a chance to win door prizes in the Student Union Apollo Room on Nov. 23.
Raiders had a choice between a traditional Thanksgiving meal, a vegan meal, gluten-free meal or Halal meal.
“Raidersgiving is an opportunity for faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members an opportunity to get together and enjoy a meal,” said Christopher Hogan, director of community standards and student conduct and Raidersgiving planning committee member.
This was the first time in three years the university hosted a traditional, in-person Thanksgiving gathering.
“I’m thankful for the university,” said Markus Perry, a junior majoring in organizational leadership. “Being able to have an event like this where you can come and get a free meal without having to ask for it, I’m thankful for that.”
Raidersgiving is sponsored by individual donations; Eric Bigler ’83, ’87; the Wright State University Foundation, Chartwells and Pepsi. Giveaways and door prizes have been donated by eCampus, Intercollegiate Athletics and Pepsi.
